Microtransactions were a considerable problem in Destiny 2 with end-game items like Sparrows, ships and shaders tied to the game’s version of Loot Boxes. While not as invasive in Destiny 2: Forsaken, it still feels like large amounts of items are held hostage behind the system. Ships, Sparrows, weapon ornaments and shaders are found in the wild, but many remain tied to Eververse. Considering Destiny 2 Builds 2's costs add upwards of $140 at this point, it's annoying that the microtransactions remain (the abysmal Curse of Osiris and Warmind DLCs are required to play Forsaken).


Few maps are as iconic in terms of its middle arena as Altar of Flame. In 6v6 it's a pretty nice, linear map where the lines between the two teams are easy to identify, with three different push points available depending on how close or long-range players want to

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep's greatest strength is what's kept Destiny so popular all these years: the gameplay. The blend of shooting and looting remains as addictive and satisfying as ever, even if we're still firing at the same enemies we've been fighting since 2014. Bungie has done a solid job altering and perfecting the formula over the years and Shadowkeep represents the next big step in its refinement, Armor 2.0.

Clocking in at four-to-five hours, Shadowkeep's campaign generally overstays its welcome despite such a short completion time. The campaign doesn't offer anything interesting in the way of revelations or mission design. Instead, it spends most of its length tasking players with mindless busywork. After that, it ends on an interesting yet unsatisfying cliffhanger that likely won't be addressed until the inevitable Destiny 3. The campaign never approaches the awful Dark Below or Curse of Osiris , but it's a severe drop in quality from Forsaken.


Ros Arago IV is one of those sweet surprises in Destiny 2 , where a World Drop weapon is actually really good. This gun rolls with the incredibly potent combo of Rewind Rounds and Onslaught, with the ability to substitute Rewind Rounds for Subsistence if desired. This makes the gun an absolute beast in low-mid game difficulties because of how fast it can spread Volatile Rounds when at max Onslaught stacks. This makes the Auto Rifle a great pick for Hunters running Gyrfalcon's Hauberk in lower content, allowing for constant application of Volatile Rou

Destiny 2 is now in the midst of the Season of Arrivals, which as itself brought a new dungeon and public event to the game along with near weapons and gear to chase. So far it’s looking like a decent seasonal update and will likely serve as a good prologue to the major expansion, Beyond Light, coming this fall. Bungie has promised great content coming with Beyond Light (including the return of Hawkmoon!) as well as the "vaulting" of locations like Mars and Mercury. Seeing previous paid content get "vaulted" is concerning, but it should be fine so long as it comes back from time to time as has been promised. That issue aside though, the future is once again looking bright for Destiny 2. Let’s hope it stays that way.


The middle point in Control is infamously difficult to capture and hold due to the natural cover it provides. It requires team effort to run in and drive away the enemy team, and with tanky, bunkering playstyles so easy to execute in the Crucible, it can get frustrating. That said, there are plenty of nice sightlines and good cover spots dotted around the map, making it perfect even for newcomers to P

Destiny 2: Forsaken takes place sometime after the events of the base game. You and Cayde-6 fly to the Prison of Elders to help an old friend, Petra Venj, put down a prison riot, but the trio quickly learns that the riot was orchestrated to cover up the breakout of eight Scorn barons. Rescued by the long-missing Prince Uldren Sov, the nine successfully escape the prison, but not before killing Cayde-6. Fleeing into the Reef, you pursue them to exact your revenge.


This weapon also has the rare trait of coming in both Kinetic or Strand depending on whether its catalyst is equipped, meaning it can be used in Prismatic to gain Transcendence energy for both light and dark elements simultaneously, or on Strand to create more Tang


What's nice is that in the middle there's a little cavernous spot that works best for players who prefer a more up-close-and-personal playstyle. It's also nice cover from any of the taller high grounds where snipers and other long-range weapons can demolish players from afar. Overall, it's definitely a map that mid to long-range players will enjoy m


The recurring theme with some of these good maps is that they have roughly three different pressure points that favor different playstyles. With burnout, the closed-off indoor area is fantastic in both 6V6 and 3V3. Holding the two points inside with close-range chaos can be a good strategy for players who might dislike long-range gameplay in the outside part of the a
